About this tool

Topic vocabulary with the collocations that turn a word you recognise into one you can use.

Recognising a word and being able to use it are different skills, and word lists only ever build the first. What is missing is collocation — which words habitually travel together. "Heavy rain" is natural, "strong rain" is not, and no definition tells you that.

Each entry here gives the meaning in plain English, the part of speech, a sentence using the word in your topic, and the words it usually appears with. Formal or dated words are flagged so they do not end up in a casual message. Set the level to IELTS and you get vocabulary that earns marks under lexical resource without straying into the thesaurus-abuse that examiners penalise.

How to use

  1. Describe the topic or context you need the words for, then set your level and how many words you want
  2. Press Generate and give it a few seconds.
  3. Copy what you need, or generate again for a different take — every run is fresh.

Frequently asked questions

It is which words naturally go together. Getting them wrong is what makes technically correct English sound unnatural, and it is the hardest part of vocabulary to learn from a list.

Use precise ones. Examiners penalise words that are misused or obviously reached for, and a correctly used common word scores better than a rare one deployed slightly wrong.

Write your own sentences with them within a day, then use them in something real. Words learned from a list and never used are gone within a fortnight.

No. Your input is sent to the AI provider this site is configured to use purely to generate your result, and is not stored here afterwards. There is no account for it to be attached to. Even so, keep passwords, financial details and other people's private information out of it.

The site owner selects one model that powers every tool here, so there is nothing for you to configure. Describe what you need, press Generate, and read the result before you use it.
